So my CD will be made into a movie, and I'm gonna do a cool 5.1 mix for it.

Now in Cubase LE 1.x, which is what I have, there is left/right pan AND back/front pan. When I adjust back/front pan, nothing happens. There's no change anywhere. My interface is a Firestudio 26x26, so my routing options are through the roof. How is this feature supposed to function?

I am getting Reaper in the next week or so, but my CD was recorded in Cubase so I'm kinda stuck with it, unless I take all the raw tracks and import them into Reaper, which means I'll have to do a remix from the ground up (which could be a good thing) but it'll take a lot of time to do. I have read Reaper can do surround, but if Cubase LE has a front/back panning feature, shouldn't it have some sort of surround ability, even if its only Quad?

You have to create surround busses in the VST connections panel by choosing one of the multi-channel configurations in the Add Output Bus dialog box. I don't know if Le has that ability?

Wrong tool for the job. You can't expect a Volkswagon to run in the Indy500....

How much would you expect to pay for either of those two and do they have a limited number of tracks?

I don't have Le but I was looking this up in the manuals and can't find the front/back panning function. Is this a plugin or did it come with the LE program softare?

It's built in, no plug-in. Its accessible in the automation section, its not directly accessible from the mixer window.
