Sorry about the dumb question, but
I just starting recording the other day for the first time in a non-protools manner...
I got a behringer 1202,
CONTROL ROOM OUTs through a Y-cable that has 2 1/4' to a 1/8
to the LINE IN of the soundcard..

and I get sound out of one speaker....(using headphones)
I guess they could be bad headphones though...I need to check that when I get back to the warehouse, but..

we got two monitors I'm trying to hook up also, but
they have these kind of connections.(more like the left most one and right most one)

what kind of cables/adaptors will I need? and
-I don't know whether they should get sound from the TAPE OUT on the mixer or the LINE OUT on the sound card?

any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Control room outs are suspose to go to your monitors, main out on rear panel to the sound card (Y-adapter) , line out from sound card to channel 1&2 on the mixer (Y-adapter). are those powered monitors? if not you are going to need a amp or a stereo receiver.

ok cool, thanks, I got the cable I needed (RCA to Line IN on the sound card)

I just realized the monitors need to be powered,
cause they belong to the other band that we share a rehearsal room with, and we just moved in...

-so on the Behringer, I know the Control Room Outs go to the Monitors,
but the Line Out (1/8) on the computer goes to the Line in (RCA)? or channel 1&2? wouldn't I be plugging stuff in there??

thanks dude.

If you have alot of instruments you can do the tape in instead and that is RCA.

what does that do exactly, connecting the line out of the sound card to the tape in of the mixer?
if the mixer is sending to the monitors(control out), and the sound card? (tape out)

Normally there are switches that let you select what is coming out of the control room outs. the tape ins don't have to be in the audio path, just the monitor path.

Thanks Farview for finishing that question!

hi, this may sound weird, but doing it that way, won't that creat a loop when listening to the audio..
thanks
