hi all,

i was doing some comparisons between the Rode NTK and the CAD E100 and found that i was getting a fair amount of secondary reflective type vocal sound using the NTK where are the E100 had next to none. i'm guessing this is due to the super cardioid nature of the E100 which means that less ambient noise is being allowed in, can someone confirm that?

i'm tending towards the E100 for my purposes, anyone done any comparisons they'd like to share?

thx again. -simon-

This is where positioning the mic and vocalist in the room becomes very important. A mic with a cardioid pattern will reject rear room reflections very well, but still allow a lot in from the sides. A super cardioid will reject side reflections better, but not as well from the rear.

So where in the room you put the mic, and in which direction it is facing, will make as much difference to the recorded sound as the mic pattern itself.
