ppl, i just got m-adudiophile, now i am thinking about pres

have 2 questionts

1st - wich one is better ( i need 2 channel for 300$ or a pair of mono)

2nd - is it ok to write down stereo signal via 2 mono preamps? ti am asking becouse i never had any expirience on adjusting gain on 2 mono pres simulationly, so, is it easy enough to make a calibrate them good ?

now i am thinking about 2 art tubes, or dmp3 or behringer tubegain. the last one is a bit more costly but i think i can get it

and pls take on mind i am in Russia, so ebay doesnt work here, and our used market is not so large

thank u

Two different preamps don't need to be calibrated during tracking, any differences in volume would all be adjusted at the mixing stage. Yes, you can use two mono preamps instead of one two-channel unit.

dr_simon - i got ya, sending e- mail

once again, any words about pres in this price range?
what about i should think of and what about shouldnt?

thanks

In your pricerange, I'd just buy a DMP3 or 2 VTB-1's and start saving for the upgrade, which will be $500-$1000 per channel.-Richie

I love teh Aphex 207, i think it's a million times better then the Studio Projects VTB-1(i own both...and the VTB-1 doesn't hold my Aphex's jock strap) especially for pop and rap vocals, because the Mic Lim gives it a dope lil pop/rap artifact taste...

the Aphex has character while the Studio Projects i'd prolly only use with an SM-57...
you can get an Aphex 207 on ebay for 400 new, used who knows

Naturaly, I'm going to suggest the DMP3. I like it. I would also consider the ART MPA dual channel. It sold for around $600 when it first came out, but now you can buy them from 8thstreet for about $339. I've never heard one but sonusman likes them, and that's enough for me.

ppl, thanx a lot for ur answers

i am aiming on dmp3 now, think i am going to buy it after yamaha mg-12/4 mixer, somewhear near september
