First of all, this is a great forum, I've been lurking for a while and finally registered today.
Right now I'm just recording 1 and 2 track demos with various acoustic and electric guitars with Audacity and Audition, and I wanted to ask a few questions about my setup.
I have an M-Audio Fasttrack, the most basic one with just a single XLR and 1/4" input. I also have the mic that came with it. (It's a crappy package deal I'm borrowing from a friend) Using just this M-audio mic my recordings are ok, but I know there's much room for improvement.
Now my other mic is pretty good, its a Beta87A, the only thing is it needs phantom power, and the M-audio box doesn't support that.
I have a roland amp that I use to give it phantom power, but I feel that just makes my recording setup a lot more complicated.
What would you guys recommend me get for the best value to record via USB that supports phantom power?
Obviously sound quality is important but I'm looking for great value as well.
Thanks in advance!
