Hi,

I already own a Lexicon MPX500 & am looking for another outboard verb unit to be used mostly for mixdown in a home studio. Willing to spend up to $500. Would also be interested in older or vintage type verbs. Welcome all suggestions.

Thanks,
RockaBill

IMO, $500 isn't going to get you anything better than your Lexicon. I'd either up the budget or try some plugins.

I guess I want another option (and more channels) from the Lexicon. What about a used Yamaha Rev7 digital reverb, are these any good? Or what about a spring reverb like the Accutronics AccuVerb, would these be good for mix down? Plugins are out, as I don't use a computer or digital recorder of any type, except for my Masterlink. Might consider higher priced options, what are they?

Thanks
RockaBill

Try and find yourself a pair of Yamaha SPX-90s... you should be able to find 2 for about $500...

They got some nice ambience programs along with the usual delay/phase/chorus....

I don't own 1 as I'm a Lex man myself,but if you're looking
for an addtl outboard 'verb give a demo to the TC Electronics M-1
sig processor. Had a sales-woman @ Sammy's demo one using an ADAT with a Ghost board and I was pretty impressed.
'Verbs didn't contain that metallic tone and signal tail was adjustable to 'bout 100 ms. Chorus & Delay were exceptional as well as percussive and vocal efx! Pretty nice box @ $330.00.

Many proffesionals find the reverb quality of the roland srv330(not the newer 3030) to be the best this side of one grande. Some prefer it to the mpx1. It only does reverb though.
