If you guys could throw out some suggestions I'd really appreciate it...
Id really like to get an Avalon... but the price is a little steep
I think the Joe Meeks are more in my price range.
my octavas need a nice companion
Thanks!

I can't think of too many stereo mic pre/compressor combinations. The Drawmer 1969 comes to mind, but then after that i'm drawing a blank. And that's probably out of your price range. I'm sure there must be others, but most of the time units are either stereo pres, stereo compressors, or mono "channel strips" that have both.

There's probably something obvious I'm overlooking - but I don't think you are going to have a whole lot of options.

The avalon 737sp is mono, not stereo, but you can link two of them together.

hey thanks alot guys for the suggestions.

boy... Im really leaning towards that twinq Joe Meek. the one that gidge mentioned.
Ive read some nice reviews on it.... I guess im going to the store to get that this weekend unless somebody else knows of a better unit. :)

2- avalon 737's .... I need to take out a small mortgage for that purchase :)

Full compass was having a "blow out" on the dbx 576 and 586 a while back. I don't know if it is still going on.

I would look into the JM VCSTwinQSC2 that Richard Monroe mentioned.

Best preamp + compressor

Take a look at the Langevin Dual Vocal Combo by Manley Labs. It's a stereo preamp with Class A electronics, two bands of switchable frequency EQs and a pair of ELOP compressors, all for about $1600 street price.

That's a few hundred cheaper than the Avalon unit you mentioned.
