Hey all,

I would like to know what your guys thoughts are for a new computer that I'm building for recording.

I currently own a Presonus Firepod that I will be hooking up to this new computer and will be running Cubase on it...

My budget is pretty slim and would like to know if the Pentium D 805 is the best bang for my buck right now... or if you have any other suggestions...

I would need a Motherboard, processor, and memory ...

Thanks
Dan

Go for the Pentium D 805. It ain't bad. I personally would prefer Macs, but oh well.

Ain't Bad?

the Pentium D 805 2.66Ghz has been overclocked to 4Ghz... its one mean little process that is all bundled up... no processor has come close to it in the means of overclocking recently.. and for the low price of roughly 130$, its a steal.... sure its L2 cache is only 1mb... but you cant beat the price!

For audio recording, it'll do the job... and fine at that...not the astest on the market, but you're DEFINATELY doing the right thing, always buy yesterdays technology... you'll save lots of money in the end.

I love the people that go spend >600$ on a processor, only to see it drop to 150$ within 8 months... :)

Good luck with the new computer

Make sure you get a decent motherboard to go with that P4. I've had good results with the Asus boards. Try & pick up something with the 955 chipset. You won't regret getting a quality mobo. It's the foundation for a stable daw

Just for the update... my Italy to win the world cup bet came through and my 50 dollars has turned into 500.

Time to buy the computer :)

Haha, that's awesome; good for you! :)

Hold out for a couple of weeks until the Core 2 Duo's ship, nothing can touch those performance wise right now
