A FEW PEOPLE HAVE TOLD ME THAT IF YOU SUBMIT A MIXED CD TO A RECORD LABEL AND IT'S GOOD ENOUGH THEY WILL SIGN YOU AS AN ARTIST AND HANDLE THE LEGAL ASPECTS REGUARDING ROYALTIES AND ETC. IS THAT TRUE? AND IF SO, ARE THERE ANY LABELS OUT THERE WHO ACCEPT DEMOS ONLINE?

Quit Shouting, please

'when It's good enough....' There were times when I believed naive stuff like that. Being good enough is not the only point. Putting your heart and soul into your music is something different than getting a record deal, which is convincing A&R's that you have the looks and the product for a potential audience and potential buyers.

Labels don't do their work for charity.

I know of no labels or A&R folks who will accept unsolicited material. Especially now days with the explosion of home recording, everyone and there brother has a CD so the sheer volume of material makes that a non- reality. You need an agent or a music lawyer to get your foot in the door. There are services like TAXI that run about $500 a year that can give you some access. No matter what, it'll cost you. If you believe in your material, spend the money and hire an insider to get your stuff in the door.

INDO,

There are still labels who accept unsolicited CDs. Do an internet search for "Record Labels," and I know there's a service out there that not only has a huge catalogue of labels, but what type of music they "like," and whether they accept unsolicited CDs. Some of them merely want you to contact them via email to get permission to submit. Don't get your hopes up, but people still do get signed by sending in unsolicited CDs.

From what I've heard, though, what will get the attention of a record label more than your CD is what kind of crowds you generate at your shows, if you're a live band.

Good luck!
