Sub IN/OUT

I'm trying a new setup on my MX2442A. It works perfectly if I hook up my 1/4 to RCA to the input on the card. I tried using the sub IN's/OUT's. I get a signal on Sonar when I use the sub IN but the meters on my mixer don't work. I don't get a signal in Sonar when I use the sub OUT. Am I doing this correctly when using the sub IN? I thought I had to use sub OUT. Also when I use the subs how come the meters on the mixer don't work?

I just figured since it's called main output, I would have to use the sub output.
 
Eh, I think I might have figured it out. Tip is the sub out, ring is sub in. Not sure, but that seems to be the case.
