Sub Drop!

Im looking to find how to record a sub drop like those one moments in songs where theres that one really low boom that sounds really distorted and im wondering how bands do this. Soungs like a compination of the toms kick drum and bass all punching at the same time. Anyone know how this is done

Do have any examples? I'm assuming you're not talking about a synth sub drop right?

I think I know what you mean, a sub hit in metal-type music generally comes into the breakdown or any other momentous occasion in the song, and I've only ever come across samples of them, I wouldn't really know how to manufacture one.

I guess it would involve a synth sound in the C0-1 range with some form of low-pass filter on it...

808. Look for some 808 samples.

Or just generate a signal around 50Hz and just place it appropriately.

Most of that effect is going from silence to having all the instruments come in at precisely the same time. A 40-50 Hz sine tone can help in the low end, or it might not.
