styrofoam insulation?

i have, and can get tons of the 4 inch thick hard styrofoam insulation from my dad. the stuff seems like it would be good to put inside walls for isolation, do you thing a layer of foam, a small gap, then another layer of foam would be good enough to block out sounds coming though the wall?

Sorry, but styrofoam insulation is useless for sound isolation. Isolation depends on mass in the walls and decoupling one wall from another, and styrofoam has no mass.

really? the stuff is extremely solid and heavey, its 4 inches and its the kind that DOESNT compress whatsoever.

Ethan is 110% correct - foam has no value whatsoever for what you want to accomplish.

Not even inside of a wall cavity as a part of an isolation assembly.
