Style and mixing questions...

Coughmist

Just a cloud in the sky..
Well, after many, many years of playing guitar and not recording, I found that snow storms can bring out the inspiration needed to plug in an 8-track and a guitar. This is my first attempt at recording and mixing on my own and I would love to receive some advice on how to make it better.

This is a happy little tune with a happy little bass line that is actually just my guitar with an octave pedal. I was pleased with the sound it produced and since I lack a bass... it seemed to fit:

I am generally upset with the acoustics in my apartment so vocals have been removed from this one. I tried to incorporate different styles while maintaining a constant flow:

This is just a quick little rock number trying to get a vintage guitar sound:

I have listened to them through headphones, computer speakers, car stereo, and etc. and each time that I feel I have gotten the volume specifics down, It just doesn't sound as good on other hardware. I want everything to be audible. Is it maybe tonality issues? compression techniques? Any advice is more than welcome.

Today - the funky clean rhythm guitar could be a little louder. The rest of the patches seem to be pretty good level. Nice clean mix. I'd center the vocals (I Feel Good Today) - just my preference. Lots of interesting bits and Bytes in this piece. Cool

Thank you for listening as well as the advice! It will be utilized! The vocals were a complete accident. I was recording them using the built in stereo mic on my 8-track and for some reason it only picked up one side. I plan on rerecording them. and as far as the levels on the rhythm, you are completely right. I enjoy the riff and it should be a bit more audible. A nice little open d tuned chord fingered like an e9. Thanks again!

Feel good today has a Psychedelic sixties sound happening in there-very nice use of the guitar as a bass, it works well! The vocal is buried in the reverb though, a remix and it will sound pretty good...
Heres some psychedelic art to go with the song-:D
