I'm using cakewalk GT2 and GS2 with Drop and Drag Drummer and my CPU has developed a stuttering problem D+D Drummer. It's gotten to where I can't replay a simple drum track to put down a second instrument track in track#2. I'm running 192 mb of memory so I don't understand this. Anyone else experiance this type of problem. i've shut down all background programs I can think of including my screen saver while using Cakewalk. Help!!!

could you elaborate? i'm unclear about which program you are actually using.

Yes, I'm using drop and drag drummer "Dry studio Kit" in conjunction with Guitar Tracks 2 and Guitar studio 2. More times than not I'm using it with GT2. I generally start out by programming my standard drum rythm on track1 and then go back and load my fills, rolls and what have you in track3. Track 2 is generally used for a scratch guitar rythm track. The problem I am encountering is the drums want to stutter at least once or twice per playback making it virtually impossible to put a decent instrument track with it. As I mentioned above,I'm running 192Mb of memory and have all background programs shut down. Why does this happen? It's getting very frustrating.

Wow, I just noticed I'm a newbie again(two years later)

ok, so you're not running both programs at the same time....which i wasn't sure about at first.

is there a latency or buffer slider in either program ? have you fiddled with it? it is most likely under OPTIONS/AUDIO.

have you been able to do guitar and drum tracks in the past and this is a new problem?

can you record guitar tracks ok, with no drum tracks?

what are you using for the drum sounds, external sound module or your soundcard?

what kind of soundcard do you have? also, processor type and speed?

Thanks j..

I have adjusted settings in options to no avail. I can record and play back audio wav files without incident.

The drum sounds are from Drop and Drag Drummer "Dry studio kit" cd They are various loops(quite good I might add) that you paste together to create your Drum track.

I am using a 500mhz HP CPU with a SB live card, an AMD-K6 3D processor with a 5400rpm hard drive.

I just discovered one remedy though I'm not sur if I care for the cure or not. It appears that if I apply some sort of effects(generally reverb) to the drum track it somehow fuses the loops into more of a continuous wav file and seems to eliminate the stuttering. I don't really now why it works but it does apparently eliminate the problem.
As long as I add reverb to my drums I'm ok:D
Now if I can figure out a way to speed the drums up past 120bpms(the max speed for DDDrummer) without changing pitch I'd be fairly happy.

hey axe,

yeah, i haven't used DDD and i think i was confusing it with SESSION DRUMMER.

it sounds bizarre to have to use a reverb or something to get loops to play back smoothly.....can you get like a single kick drum carrying the tempo to loop back ok without using fx? or anything simple to playback without a glitch?

hard for me to say more without trying out DDD, GS or GT...maybe i'll try out a demo.

good luck
