Stupid V30 question;
I am now the proud owner of a mesa single rectumfrier, and an avatar G212h special.
Celestion Vintage 30 and one Celestion G12H30 70th Year Anniversary Special in the 8 ohm mono, 60 watts with the partial open back cab.
This seems to imply that the cab is rated @ 60 watts.
If the V30 handles 60 alone, is it not cumulative?
Should it handle 90 watts, or close to it?

I know nothing about your question, but you got pics man? Sound samples? I'm freaking jealous......I need to get me an amp.....

Sweet! Congrats. It is going to depend more on the ohms rating than the wattage. And that is where my gnosis ends.

Sorry dog, no pics or clips yet....

Got the head (at work) yesterday, and the cab (at work) today.
Last night, I used my ampeg combo speaker (celestion with 3 inch cord) at an odd angle on the cellar floor to test it, and HOLY SHIT is it filthy!!!

It's kinda nice only having to replace two power tubes!

Ohms are correct. I hope (8 ohms).

But now after miscalculating I have my usual "don't push it too hard or you'll break it" anxiety going on. :o :D

You are correct. You add the speakers together. But remember since one speaker is rated mroe than the other, you would be wathcing out for that lower rated speaker. 60 watt speaker plus 30 watt speaker = 90 watts handling, but remeber that each speaker gets 50% (or whatever percentage of the number of speakers) of what the amp puts out. (remeber that your 50 watt amp might put out a bit more when cranked. So even if you amps hits 70 watts....that would be 35 watts each speaker.

Are the speakers 8 ohms each or 16 ohms?

If they are 8 ohms each then your amp will need to be on either 4 or 16 depending on how the speakers are wired.

The V30 is definitely 16 ohms, but I don't see impedance rating on the G12H... I guess I can assume it is 16 ohms since the cab is labeled 8 ohms...

Thanks Outlaws,

there's a little avatar sticker at the input that says "8 ohms avatarspeakers.com".

So, since I didn't specify... can I assume it is a mono cabinet and the second 1/4 jack is an output for daisy-chain?

Oh lol...well if the cab is labled 8 ohms then nevermind what I said.

Thats their standard connection scheme from what I remember. It shouldnt' matter what connection you use though since they are connected together I think. (just don't use it as two inputs) If you get another cab they will be in parallel. Its just a splitter really.

heh...

Now i'm gonna make you wait :D

But seriously, it will be the weekend before I can track down the camera.
I haven't tried downloading pics from the camera on the wifes puter (the one with a modem).

I haven't even moved it to the cellar yet, so clips are definitely gonna have to wait till the weekend!

My wife about had an aneurism last night when she came home to me creating cacophony in the living room!

I love her, and a matched set of power tubes are only around $70.
Now to decide which kind....

I smell another thread. :D

Here's one

Here's one from the auction.

Best I can do right now!

Yes, it is cumulative, but you also have to consider speaker impedances as well. For example, if you connect a 60 watt speaker and a 30 watt speaker in parallel, you'd think you'd have 90 watts handling, right? Not necessarily. If they have the same impedance, they share the wattage equally, so if you pump 80 watts into the combination, each speaker gets 40 watts; the 60 watt speaker is well within its comfort zone, but you may blow the 30 watt speaker.

I found a Mesa forum (boogie board it's called). There's at least one guy out there who prefers the single rectifier to either dual or triple.
There is always at least one single rectifier on ebay... check it out!
