I may be dumb, but I have never known something; do mixing boards like this one: MX3282A Eurodesk have to be used in conjunction with a computer? or are they like the VF160's with an internal harddrive?

Mixers like that one do not contain a medium to record on to. So yeah, you would need a computer with recording software, or some other type of medium for that purpose. A mixer is just the way to "get the sound there".
