Hi.

Stupid question - I really should know the answer to this, but I can't figure it out. And reading that horrible manual makes me want to put a gun to my head.

I own a VF-16 with ver. 3.13 of the O/S with a 40gig hard drive. I want to delete (i.e. "cut") all the recorded tracks of a particular section of a program. I know how to erase a section of a program. I know how to move a section of a program. But is there a way to simply "cut" the offending section without have to first perform an erase and them a move?

Example: I record practices of my band, so the programs will get pretty big. Sometimes, I want to keep certain sections and/ or delete other sections of the same program. For example, I'd like to delete the first 30 minutes of the program, so that minute 31 now becomes minute 1.

TIA,

ray

I don't think you can just cut bits out.
I see Mike on VF16.com has a suggstion about exporting the bits you want as WAV files - sounds liek it could be useful.

I cant really help you but I'd like to know if its possible too

I own and use a VF08 which is pretty much the same as the VF16 (except for the number of tracks of course). There may be a way of doing this but I need to check out the manual and see if it works in practise. I'm thinking of using the Move Paste command. I would select a Start point which represents the end of the section you want to cut out. The End point would be the end of the recording. The To point would be the start of the section you want to cut out. But I need to try this (later) and I'll get back to you, hopefully within 24 hours ;)

The vf160 manual states that you can't cut out a section and have what came after it automatically move up to cover what you cut out. I had to remove a bridge section from one of my songs and half of a guitar solo from another. Here is a simplified version of how i did it:
You have a program that is 5 minutes long. You want to remove a 1 minute section from the middle of the program starting at minute 3 and ending at minute 4. Set the section you want to move by copying minute 4 to program end to the clipboard. Then paste the clipboard contents to minute 3.
You have to do this to each track individually.

Thanks for the reply. This confirms what I thought. Too bad...it would be very helpful to have the ability to cut whole sections of a program and have the rest of the program "move up" automatically.

Thanks again,

ray
