Can the M-Audio Audiophile 2496 ALSO be used to play MOHAA,UT2003,SOF2,BF1942 games,etc?

In other words, how does the M-Audio compare say to a SB Live! 5.1 when it comes to BASIC computer audio functions?
Can the M-Audio be usedas the computers Main/only soundcard?

YES

You will have to go intothe properties section of your soundcard and make sure that the 24/96 is selected for playback, not whatever other soundcard (soundblaster) is in your computer.

(of course this only applies if you have more than one soundcard )

I have the Delta 44, but it should also apply to the 24/96. I use this card for everything audio -
-Playing CDs
-Listening to tunes online (like song samples from Amazon.com, not stealing tunes from Kazza!)
-Playing games. I've played SimCity, ElfBowling (my wife loves this one) and the sound comes out fine
-And of course, recording and mixing my tunes.

I think you'll be fine!

Hey, good to hear those answers as I will be purchasing an M-Audio sound card of some sort in the near future (thinking about the 1010lt, but may get the 2496 depending on budget.

Hey Skycries57 - I play (not so much anymore because I'm working on my music) UT & UT2003. What name to you play under in UT2003? I play under -=UTMF=-Jagular. Add me to your buddies list and come frag me if you ever see me.

Oh and it's not a stupid question, I was wondering the same thing, just hadn't gotten around to asking it yet.
