Where did you guys dig up Dr. John for the lead vox. Who sang?

Really enjoyed both song, and vocals.

Recording sounds very good to my ears, no flaws.

Great work!!

"The system cannot file the specified file"

Aarrrghhh!!!!!!!

I get this message every so often when trying to stream from NoWhereRadio. Doesn't matter if I log in or not. I don't seem to have a problem if I download the file, but I don't like do that at work.

I'm using Windows media player. Anyone else have this problem?

The only time that problem occurs for me is when the user has not enabled downloads for ALL.......dont know what it has to do with anything but as soon as the download is enabled for ALL, the hi-fi stream will work like a charm.

Groovy tune fellas!:D I love disco and the 70's. The lyrics seem to be pokin fun at how hip it is to be gay these days.(Who would have thunk it?LOL)if you're gay you have a good shot at getting your own TV show.:D

Curtain call II

Once again, I offer my thanks to the second wave of listeners and to those that offered advice on vocal levels and streaming issues.

I foolishly made this a 192kbs file stream so that I could cut down on the number of previous comments from my other offerings that the sound was harsh or distorted in the top end. In some cases the distortion is from the lower stream, coupled with a hotter level and the result is grit city! No offence to anyone who actually lives in such a place, if such a place exists!

A very special thanks goes out to Studioviols for not only being the supplier of some very fine lyrical content but also for responding to the many kind reviews that you folks have been throwing our way.

It is all appreciated and gratifying to see that we put something different and unusual together that many of you have gotten a smile out of.

I write music in many different styles and many moods from quiet acoustic stuff to head banging rock and a few other stops in-between.

A final note for the moment;

I have been going through an ISP changeover and am only on dial up at this moment so my downloading and reviewing power has been cut by a factor of 50 for the next few days so, I hope I have your patients if I can not review as many works as I would like to. Things should be back in a day or so.

Cheers! :)

I think we are all patients in this lab :p

Good to see you at least partially back in action ! Can't wait for more stuff from you.

WOW!

Now that was interesting!

No mix complaints. Great production guys!

IMO- The process of extracting insanity from sanity then applying integrity sometimes results in creative genius (Or serial killers) and that seems to be evident here.

Ghost, I think Zappa himself would not only enjoy this tune, but would likely be pleased his influence seems to have twisted you in such a unique, productive and creativly relevant way.

The Disco direction is straight up burgundy shag carpet and huge gold medalions all the way!

Your programing here is truely class A remarkable as it comes off so non repetitive or distracting.

Guitar: YES-Maybe some leads with a phaser or funky period effect.

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned, but IMO some slick angelic female backup singing (Something in the disco style like in Taste of Honey's-"Boogie- Oogie-Oogie", but with just the right insane lyrics adding to or summing up parts of the story line like Gladis Night's "Midnight train to Georgia") would flip this song out in a BIG way.

This is great work from both of you guys.

(Damn Ghost, everytime you post the collaboration line gets longer in front of me! LOL)

:)

Final Curtain Call

To Sluice and Billy,

Thanks guys for checking out the tune!

And, to Billy; I hope your feeling better and that the song put a smile on your face. By the way, if you take a hammer and hit yourself on your knee caps reel hard, I bet you forget all about that pain in your head!!:D

To everyone else,

Thanks again!

Cheers! :)

Final Curtain Call

Thanks to everyone for chiming in, we appreciate all you board members who come together to create this space, thanks to the mods and admins for keeping things going smoothly. Thanks to Waldo and the worlds of nowhere ...

Thanks to The Ghost of FM for his great production of some humble lyrics.

Thanks for the listen Sluice, glad we could entertain.

Be cool Billy thanks for the listen, I think the backup chicks are a great idea as they would also provide for gender diversity :D

You guys did an excellent job, and created a keeper tune. Very nice quality and the music fit the words well.

Sorry 'bout the "fast break" post here, but had to stop by and tell you I heard it.

Coool and smoooooth.

Hey - what about this? Your stereo wav file is so regular, but the left channel is consistently bigger and louder than the right.

Good mix. Great sound on the bass. So I suppose I should get a synth huh, and stop messing around with a real bass?

Wonderful wonderful singing. The distance in style between the two voices and the one drier than the other one - brilliant. Effeminant. LOL

Zappa woulda liked this one. What a delightfully weird song. LOL

This one goes into my mp3 collection. Then I'll rule.

love the song
no complaints here
im a ginormous zappa fan so this song sat very well with me
grreat job

I lied. This is the last bump.

participant - Thanks for checking out the tune and taking the time to at least tell us you liked it and considered it a keeper!

Keeper seems to be the magic word to aspire to here in the clinic and after having so many rotten mixes with bad levels, eq, verb, compression..................................it's nice to have made something that was a result of listening and taking the advice that I have learnt here at the clinic.

Dobro - This is the first review from you of my stuff in the clinic and I thank you as well for signing in and giving props to my mix and its balance qualities.

About not using a real bass, I would not encourage anyone here to do that. Especially if you have a bass guitar and are a bass player! Traditionally, I would never do a total midi production as I consider midi a crutch and a means of cheating to quickly put a track together.

Thanks also for the magic "keeper" word!

Jakearabble - Glad to see yet an other Zappa fan here! I think with Zappa, it's a love/hate relationship. There are very few on the fence when it comes to his body of work and I have loved his stuff ever since I was 9 years old, listening to my brother's Mothermania album over and over again. I've been a fan ever since those days back in 1969.

Welcome to the clinic!

As a final note;

This tune was really a magical piece of work and would never have been possible without the lyrics that Studioviols offered up for grabs in the song writing forum and technically, those lyrics are still up for grabs to anyone else who might want to still make this a punk rock tune, which is what SV actually had in mind for them when he wrote them.

This song had produced the largest number of listens and responses that I have to date in the clinic and we even managed to weasel our way onto Dave Baker's Radio show and that is something I haven't had since the good old days 15 years ago when I used to send my stuff into a couple of college radio stations and got some air play locally here in Toronto.

I think I will have a difficult task ahead of me in the future to top this one.

Thanks again to all the members of the clinic.

Cheers! :)

Interesting concept. Great production.

Lyrics were offensive. Straight guys can't use those terms - at least not in public. Kinda like white guys using the "n" word. I learned THAT the hard way, way back in the day.:(

Excellent groove, though. More pop than disco - real sophisticated parts.

Daf

I needed that...a song with some humor and fun built in.
I echo all the comments saying it's got some Zappa in it.
And you did all that music on a keyboard....you're one
heck of a musician. The lyrics and vocals are top quality too.
I'll be looking for more stuff written by you.

'Caching' is inherent to local networks and machines, not a problem on NWR. It means your ISP, or your browser might be f'd, or have screwed up a cache of data from NWR.

Second, DAP will NOT work on NWR (even if it looks like it is, it is NOT any faster), as it is very bad for servers opening up too many ports and blocking other users from downloading/slowing those users down. The software should detect and prevent DAPs from functioning.

Now as far as WMP, make sure it's configured properly as per instructions in the FAQ. The new WMP has some major issues, and I recommend it be trashed! lol

W.

P.S., ever thing that maybe I am the bot you think I use?

Truthfully, I NEVER use bots! It's me in person!
