I lied. This is the last bump.
participant - Thanks for checking out the tune and taking the time to at least tell us you liked it and considered it a keeper!
Keeper seems to be the magic word to aspire to here in the clinic and after having so many rotten mixes with bad levels, eq, verb, compression..................................it's nice to have made something that was a result of listening and taking the advice that I have learnt here at the clinic.
Dobro - This is the first review from you of my stuff in the clinic and I thank you as well for signing in and giving props to my mix and its balance qualities.
About not using a real bass, I would not encourage anyone here to do that. Especially if you have a bass guitar and are a bass player! Traditionally, I would never do a total midi production as I consider midi a crutch and a means of cheating to quickly put a track together.
Thanks also for the magic "keeper" word!
Jakearabble - Glad to see yet an other Zappa fan here! I think with Zappa, it's a love/hate relationship. There are very few on the fence when it comes to his body of work and I have loved his stuff ever since I was 9 years old, listening to my brother's Mothermania album over and over again. I've been a fan ever since those days back in 1969.
Welcome to the clinic!
As a final note;
This tune was really a magical piece of work and would never have been possible without the lyrics that
Studioviols offered up for grabs in the song writing forum and technically, those lyrics are still up for grabs to anyone else who might want to still make this a punk rock tune, which is what SV actually had in mind for them when he wrote them.
This song had produced the largest number of listens and responses that I have to date in the clinic and we even managed to weasel our way onto Dave Baker's Radio show and that is something I haven't had since the good old days 15 years ago when I used to send my stuff into a couple of college radio stations and got some air play locally here in Toronto.
I think I will have a difficult task ahead of me in the future to top this one.
Thanks again to all the members of the clinic.
Cheers!
