i'm on the fence between buying a peavey/cakewalk studiomix and a roland vs-880. can anyone give me the pro's & con's of either. the studiomix looks cool but i'm not sure of the mechanics of it. i know the vs-880 will do what i want but it costs a bit more. i'm getting a hp pavillion 6540 this week it's supposed to be made for sound and has a cd writer built in. so what i want to know is will the studio mix do as good a job as the vs-880?

This might help. http://www.bib.nl/webenough/vs880faq/

I have an vs-880 and it does sound good
but does have limitations. I am planning
to go to computer based. I would check out
the posts on cakewalk. Some people seem to
have problems with it. To add to your total
confusion I have been looking at motu myself.
I would research these avenues more before
buying anything and getting feedback from
different sources and groups on the net.
there is always a group that has these
devices and knows there weak and strong points. Here is motu. http://MOTU.COM/english/motuaudio/index.html
Good Luck with your new computer and consider
windows NT.
