Studio Window Costs

In order to have a window seperating two rooms for visibility in and out of both, I apparently would need a piece of glass for seperation. If it has nothing to do with keeping sound in, what would be the best/cheapest material to use, and how much would it cost? Should I go with plexiglass or an actual piece of glass? The dimensions would be fairly small, probably 4x3 feet (that's just a guess).

Thickness?

Usually laminated safety glass is the way to go, for insurance purposes. Face unlike thickness towards each other. If you are confident that know one will act alloof in your studio then single pane will do the job. Now, having varied thickness of both windows will help cut resonances of the same frequencies. Also, having decoupled walls helps alot, puting one window in each frame of each wall. The stc rating alone is worth it.

I have two 1/4" panes, and am content with the stc I have. The price for these two pieces of glass was around 100$.

Here are some of my chronicles of glass installment. Hope it helps. Sounds like someone needs help with installment as well.
