What would the best way to rig a "talk-back" mic using a Tascam 424 MkII. . The drum kit will be setup in the next room, away from the mixer, and we would like to find a way to be able to talk to the Drummer through his headphones. . . We have a cheap mic and a stand. . and we might be using a small sub mixer as well. . (But, that is undecided yet)

Does anyone have any good ideas. . .simple or complicated? We're just looking for some diffrent ways to do this. . Thanks guys!!!

Hope all is well . .

The 424 doesn't really offer any forum of talk back system built in the way that other full featured mixing consoles would offer like the M312B that I use has so, my best suggestion is a bull horn or cue cards.

RadioShack also used to offer intercom systems and baby room monitors and they might be more useful then screaming through a bull horn.

Cheers! :)

Talkback mic using Tascam MH-40

Okay, . .I'm back on this talkback kick, . .and trying to rig something up. However, I neglected to mention that I have an MH-40 Headphone amp that will be connected to my 424 mkII. . . .

So, if anyone has any ideas how I can put together a simple talkback system using the MH-40, . . .that would be great!

Another thought, . . I came across a little system made by ROLL, called The Rolls PM50s Personal Monitor, . .I'm not sure if that just might be easier to hook-up. . . But, since I have this really nice Tascam headphone amp, . . I thought that there might be a way to create some sort of talkback system. .

Thanks guys. . .

If you have another mixer, you can take the output of your 424 that is headed to your headphone amp and plugit into a channel of the second mixer. Your talkback mic into a second channel. The outout of that mixer on to the headphone amp. Just bring up the talkback mic channel when you need to "talk back".
