Studios have plenty of reflections. They're just controlled to sound pleasant, and the control rooms are altered to sound flat. A recording in a room with no reflections would sound......awkward to say the least.

However, rooms with no reflections (or extraordinarily few of them) do exist. They're called anechoic chambers and are mainly used to test products, such as hard drives to find out exactly how quiet they are.

btw, the best place for this would be the studio building forum :p

Your average library probably would suffice as a decent room to record in. High ceiling, lots of book shelves with irregular surfaces from all the books, carpet, etc. Most likely a good mix of good reflections and some absorbtion.

There's a Barnes & Noble book store nearby that would be pretty cool to track in, actually.

The ceilings are really high, and there's just all kinds of wood everywhere ... and in all sorts of irregular patterns, with combinations of dome and a-frame type shapes. Some crazy stuff there. Add in all of the book shelves and the mixture of carpeting and polished wood on the floors, and you've got a pretty cool place for sound transmission.

Just an observation
