studio setup for comp access

Noticed a big problem with my setup this weekend when i tried to setup mics for the durmset, there was no way to control the PC (keyboard/mouse/view the monitor easily) from behing the drumset. So it looks like i will be moving everyhting around here soon to make it a bit easier to get levels set correctly etc without an assitance (my girlfriend got really tired of hitting the snare and kick for 10 minutes straight while i tweaked away).

Anyone have an tips and tricks or DIY or store-bought solutions? I am saving for the next purchase which will be a 19inch LCD monitor which i should be able to rig to be positioned to be seen from a couple different spots, and I have a KVM switch which i could use, if only for the extra cord lentgh for the keyboard and mouse. Wondering if folks were using wireless keyboards and mic for this sort of thing or what? If it helps, my studio space is not a roughly 15/ 25 foot space along one side of my basement. I am just barely getting setup, so am open to rearranging things for ease of use.

I make sure the monitor is viewable from behind drumset, since I'm the engineer/musician at the same time, most of the time. One solution is the wireless mouse/keyboard, I just bought one at CompUSA for about $40, fashionably black and works nice, range about 7 feet. Just get extension cables (about $5) if you need more distance. You could stick that on a tv food tray or something, put it behind you while drumming probably, pull it too your side when you need it. Slap on some amp wheels or somethin, roll that baby around lol. Hope that helps.
