I am possibly going to be living in a rented apartment that will not allow acoustic treatment, well as far as I know. The problem is I can't go around putting nails through the walls or i'll be in trouble. Is there another way of doing this without damaging the walls? I've not set up acoustic treatment myself before so I wouldnt know and I'd probably be using only bass traps and panels.

I was watching a video on bass trap construction the other day and the fellow in the video had made a few traps with feet on the bottom of them so they could be pretty mobile. I think this would work for a room as long as it was big enough! For corners you could also just stack triangles of insulation.

Here is the vid...the part about the feet is around 4:35

Why can't you put nails in the walls?? Spackle and paint when you move out. I own several rentals and nails in the walls are not a problem for a landlord so long as you fix the nail holes when you move out. I expect my tenants to hang pictures, paintings, wall-mounted TV's, etc. I also inspect the properties and charge them for any damage left unfixed at the end of their lease.

But no nails, no problems. What about thumb-tacks? Cover your panels with fabric and hold them on the wall with thumb-tacks.

The real problem I see is no sound isolation. Do you have a plan for recording without bothering your neighbors?

I would rather go with the thumbtack idea because I cant paint over wallpaper and I don't really have a plan for recording without bothering neighbours, is there much I can do?
