hello theres few question i would like an answer for please and im hoping this thread would tip alot of learners jus like myself!!.... so hear it goes mr producers..

1) does a quality soundcard make difference to quality of music finished on CD?

2) on fl studio, when there are soooo many pad and synth sounds, the audio stutters horribly!! why is that?

3) does a good sequencer/audio recording software make differece to sound quality during playback?

and finally please modify this chain for crisp quality vocal recording!...

STUDIO CONDENSOR MIC(large diaphram)----->BEHRINGER(preamp) MIXER---

--->PC(line in) using a CREATIVE SOUNDBLASTER CARD ----->RECORDED DIRECTLY INTO MAGIX MUSIC MAKER(audio recording software)

i could answer all your questions.... but i don't feel like it ....

instead i'm going to point you to link that won't answer your questions, but it will teach how to find answers ...............

I will take a quick stab at this

1). Yes - but not just becuase of the soundcard - It's all downline - better soundcard= better performance (i.e. sample & bit rate, I/O options, routing and monitoring options) all equaling to better decisions in the tracking and mixing phases

2) I dont use FL studio but the problem could be I/O buffer settings (This ties in to #1 by the way) driver compatabilty/quality ASIO or WDM - CPU power - Lots of variables

3) In my IMHO not as much a lot of other things - Like #1 mostly ;)

I am not a gear snob but at first look - back to #1 again :( - Upgrade the soundblaster - I know i keep harping on that but beleive me - when you upgrade that to a decent audio interface (you can get one for under $150) thinks are going to get a lot better in a hurry. After that I woukd upgrade the Berry - It's usable but you can do a lot better for not a ton of money

That would be a small start

Hey

Now that's a friendly welcome!

ShureshotStudio had a point though. Asking those who know does answer your immediate question, but doesn't really advance your understanding.

DK more or less answered your questions. In terms of crisp vocal recordings the chain is ok for the gear you list, though the crispness depends a lot on the microphone, and of course the preamp settings and the soundcard you have.

Personally I prefer to do almost everything treatment-wise, after recording, that way I have a recording of the instrument or vocal as close to the original sound as possible. The only pre-soundcard processor I use is a compressor, and then only if I have to and as little as possible.

The EQing will be essential, you should experiment but articles like this:

wil get you started and give you some food for thought.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Geepers, Mr. 4eemsers. Maybe it's because you've got soooooo many pads and sythses! Dratsees!

3) does a good sequencer/audio recording software make differece to sound quality during playback?

Make difference? No, but I think it might make ice cream! Weee! Ice cream!

and finally please modify this chain for crisp quality vocal recording!...
