I just recieved an email from my man inside Studio Projects and the street date will be the week of the 21st. Retail price of $199.00, and estimated street price of $170.00

If you wish to be the amoung the first you should email Alan. I have allready ordered mine.

You know, you should really try and spread the word, Darrin.

Nah, thats Brent Casey's job now....wonder if he needs an Executive Personal Assistant?....

Ppffft ! ! I'd make a better plant than you any day, Gidge. I've been preparing my whole life for this job.

Plant I wish?!?! Im paying for mine just like anyone else. I learned of this and I know this has been anticipated for a long time. I wish I knew more.

Then I'm afraid you're getting royally screwed. I typically demand at least a few free units and a cash advance if I'm going to cross-post.

Ahh, now for some real q&a.
Is this 1 or 2 ch pre?
tube or solid state?

it seems by looking at the state of the pre market right now this "turd" will have to be polished real good to sell :D

cheers

Yeah, I do not have very high hopes for it, the only "cheap" pre that will probably be useful is the RNMP.

All these "tube" preamps below $500-1000 makes me a bit angry, cus` most of them really sucks.....

The RNMP is months away from production. The SP is hitting the shelves next week, From what I hear the unit without tube on is simmiler to the grace design, and the tube circutry is different than other hybrids.

Im anxious to hear the unit up close, with a C1. Which is supposed to match up perfectly.

Darrin, when you say it's "similar" to the Grace Design, do you mean it uses a burr-brown opamp? Those are cheap, and you can stick one in your ART tewb mp, but it still won't be a Grace.

Other than that, in what ways are they supposed to be similar? I don't know that a world-class pre like that can be churned out for $200 street price.

and who would have thought we would have heard mics ~ $200 that sound as amazing (to some) as the C1 and the v67?......Studio Projects would be one of the few that i would believe could pull it off......

i am anxiously awaiting this one.....will I trade in my DMP2 and Joe Meek VC3Q's?....we'll see......

We shall find out real soon all the answers. While Burr brown opamps are used, along with a variable voltage circut that is suposed to match impedences doing away for the need for transformers. (Im not sure how its done, but It seems Interesting)

Funny how alot of us are taking stock in the RNMP that seems to be the same price when You consider Its a two channell. to be able to produce results that may be better than the grace , and in a 1/3rd rack space to boot.

Now that I find intriguing. Can it provide an ideal load for something like an sm57? That would be worth the price of admission. Toobs aside. :)
