You can please some of the people some of the time.....but you can't please all of the people all of the time.

Ametth, maybe you would like to define your concept of "sleazy" more clearly, because on the face of it you appear a little over-sensitive. Also your quote ........
"I am an artist. I paint, draw, write music, etc...I actually create something, unlike our friend Alan."............does absolutely nothing to enhance your credibilty. And from one artist to another our god given abilities with paint, pencil, glass, etc., and our love of music doesn't make us any better than Alan or anyone else here.

ChrisO

Sleazy: as in pushing his mic on people without paying for advertising on this site. SPAM in other words.

I didn't say that to increase my credibility, I didnt say it to imply that I'm better than alan, I said it because CarmenC inferred that I just sit at home and harrass people, I dont. The truth is, I'm really a nice guy, I help people whenever I can. Alan just comes across like a used car salesman (no offense to used car salemen).

Something about this mic....

brings out the weirdest reactions on these threads.

All I can say is it's a damn good thing C7sus isn't around or things would REALLY be out of control here...

Queue

It's not the mic. It's the way they are being sold.

Did you know that theyproduce a special brand of Spam for Guam...its is so spicy that most gringos couldn't handle it. I myself just like green eggs and ham! Look mostt of us are here to enhance our setups...and one way of doing it is to purchase new and hopefully better equipment. Though you may not like the way Alan conducts business, this is capitalism at work...and that America great! Oh, by the way...its dot.com and not dot.org!

Hey Queue,

Where is C7sus when you need him! :D

Ametth, you have no clue as to what I do, and you're comment that I do nothing only shows you're ignorance on the matter. With all due respect, think what you want, but know what you say.

You know what Alan, I know I overstepped my boundaries when I said that, I apologize. You called me on it, just like I'm calling you on spam.

With all due respect, you should get out of the salsesman mode. Put a link to your website in your signature file, thats accepted these days. Help people when they need it. Answer questions about your product. Just *dont* mention your wares whenever you see the chance.

I could never bring myself to even try spam..it just doesn't seem right. Anything that hold it's shape after it comes out of the can kinda remindes me to much of dog food! <g>

I'm confused by your "its dot.com and not dot.org!" statement. Could you please clarify?

Cheers.

I detest the typical used car salesman, and insurance salesman too. I find them totally objectionable.............I have never had that feeling about Alan,....... sure he has "mentioned" his mics frequently, BUT he has also frequently told people to use their ears and buy other mics if that's what they feel is right.
Is this sleazy behaviour......not really! Is it showing a commitment and passion to has products.......SHIT YEAH! And good luck to him.
Like I said earlier, some people are a little too sensitive.

Ametth,

Look, its cool. I have no problem with it, its a free country.

You can call me and my mics anything you want. I will still answer questions to those that ask me. When that happens, my answers are directed to them, not the group.

If you don't like the answer I gave another member on this group...fine, but I think it is up to the member I am dealing with to determine if I am a Spammer...not you, or Wally Cleaver.

You are entitled to you're opinion, as is Wally, but you don't have to try and convince all the members in this group that I am a Spammer based on an answer I gave when asked to do so.

I honestly do not think I am a Spammer. Quite frankly, I make a very good mic and they have helped a good deal of people get the sound they were looking for without spending a bunch of money, and I will be bringing out many more products that will help them. So am I Spamming again right now?

In either case, I am fine with how you feel, all I ask is for you to be fine with how the rest of the group feels.

Its like the FM radio band...anyhting below 92.0 is non-commercial and anything above it is commercial. The same is true about the Internet. Its all about getting your product out there...years ago when I broke into broadcasting ore salespeople use to talk about cost-per-thousand...now about adays you can multiple that by thousands...enoug of that. Heck its time for another Pale Ale!

When you answer questions about your stuff, I have no problem with it, I think thats great customer service!! I have the problem with someone asks aobut a pre and a mic he just bought and instead of answering the question, you automatically recommend one of your mics! That is spam. You are a spammer.

No you are not spamming right now.

I really do think it's cool that your here, but stop the spamming please.

Maybe you should be moderator of the mic forum Ametth, god knows the current one ain't.

Want the job?

You really need to go back to the thread and read it. I did not automatically suggest my mic. In fact, here is the entire thread.

Musix
Will a Joe meek pre cut down noise from a marshall mic? I just bought a marshall mxl 2001p and a joe meek pre. by using the pre will it decrease the noise? Or make the signal to noise raicio higher. I knew this model is more prone to noise than others. but for $99.00 It was a steal. Please send me some feedback.Report

Alan Hyatt
Musix, Which Joemeek did you get? As my mics are in stiff competition with Marshall, and I am releasing my own $99.00 Studio Projects mic in January, I will not comment on the one you bought, but I can help you if I know what Joemeek mic pre you got. Alan Hyatt PMI Audio Group

Musix
VC3Q Pro Channel the pre is a joe meek vc3q pro channel. where can I find studio projects mics? I've heard of the c1. couldn't find it at sam ash. thanx for the replies

Alan Hyatt
Musix, We have lots of dealers, so getting one is not a problem. The VC3Q is a quiet mic preamplifier. Sure, its not a Manley or Avalon, but then again it does not cost 4K. There should be no reason the VC3Q is adding noise. My guess is your gains could be set improperly, but the C1 is significantly better than the 2001 you're using...no disrespect to Marshall. A gate can help, but then you might hear it working, so consider that as well. You can find dealers on our site at www.studioprojectsusa.com Alan Hyatt PMI Audio Group

So I think its great that you post here, but I have a problem with someone who has no idea of what he is talking about. You have no idea what you're talking about.

No, you have no idea what you're talking about now.

Interludium

I think this is a good discussion. Both parts are good guys and stick to arguments, and even apologize when boundaries are broken. I strongly encourage the readers to read this discussion and make up your own minds about it instead of acting cheerleaders by the side-line. Remember this is not a black/white issue, and this thread will probably lead to nothing practical in the end.

Personally, I have made up my own mind about Alan's way of posting long ago.. but that only affects how I read his POSTS... Alan is a nice guy, and is a GREAT resource on this bbs.. I Haven't heard his mics, neither have I heard the competition, so I wont comment on that since microphones is a VERY personal matter.. (proven 345090234098 times a day in this very forum....)

Well... now I just feel like erasing all I wrote above, but it took me some of my valuable time (yeah right) so I'll just close my eyes and SUBMIT!!

Big Hugz to Alan and Ametth.

I have no idea what I'm talking about?? Thats rich!! You just re-posted your spam!!! Jeez...

This thread is such a waste of time at this point. Spam or no spam, you're not supposed to try and sell stuff on forums out side of either the hot deals section. If you were gonna give it away then thats one thing. But I think I have to say that this really isn't the place for everyone to be selling things.

Guys, all this over the offer of two mics exclusively for HR forum users? Sure, Alan hasn't been backward in coming forward at times but to the point of being called "sleazy" and basically "flamed"..........c'mon for god's sake get real!!!!! If you don't like his posts, then don't read them!

How can it be spam when musix asked Alan specifically, where can I get SP mics?
Alan was just answering his question! There are numerous threads where Alan doesn't mention his mics, but you choose to ignore them! Ignorance is NOT bliss!
About Fletcher, YOU are the one that said that you respect him and Alan should take his example. Did you go to Mercenary.com? He skeweres an ADAT an a Mackie mixer and calls it "Shit on a stick"? This is what you admire? This earns your respect? Show me a slam that Alan did that even comes close to that. It's not that you don't get it, you just don't want to. Please name the negative impact of Alan's so called "spam". Do you have so little respect for people that you dont think they can make up their own minds about what Alan says? I find your attacks on Alan's "spam" more revolting than what you consider "spam"!
If you go out and buy a SP mic, it's a mic that Alan has ALREADY SOLD TO A DEALER! He's already gotten the benefit you accuse him of trying to get here.
I think you give him a little too much credit. If he was the all powerful spammer svengali you seem to think he is, he'd be selling alot more T3's at 699.00m than C1's @230.00. The market has decided what they like and what they'll pay for it, not Alan. He's just here to help. God bless him.
I just think it sucks that he gets ragged dy you for providing the kind of personal service that most companies wont. When I read your posts, I can see why they don't have the BALLS Alan does! Your the reason companies CHARGE for customer service!
We need people like you to make sure no good deed goes unpunished........
Get a clue.....
