Alan can do alot of good here. I think it's great that he's on the BBS helping end users with not only his mics, but other manufacturers equipment as well. Thats great. What gets me is the spam. He should not be pushing product like that. BBS's are a goos source of information, but if people start selling their products with abandon and no moderation on these boards...sooner or later thats all the boards will become. I dont think you want that.
I still maintain that Alan does not need to spam the way he does, if he were to just hang out here, help people and in his signature file, *put a link to his website* people will buy from him. The word will get out that he is a good guy, not a sleazy salesman..which he is now, and has the reputation of being. I respect people like Dan Kennedy, Scott Dorsey, Fletcher, and John Hardy, who all have things to sell, but dont resort to spamming various bbb's to do it. They all hang out and actually help people.
CarmenC, I am hardly jealous of Alan and what he does. Alan does not create anything. He is a salesman, plain and simple. I think you dont understand what whining is either. What I'm doing here is not whining, it's pointing out sleazy sales tactics, thats it.
I dont "sit at home and hasssle people" either...I am an artist. I paint, draw, write music, etc...I actually create something, unlike our friend Alan.

What the fuck does giving product for free have to do with anything? I own 2000 dollar preamps and 5000 mics, I paid for them too, and guess what, I respect those people whom I bought them from. The only thing I could do that would benefit the lives of recording musicians is share what little knowledge of recording I have. FWIW, I am a competent tech and have offered to help many people on this board with their problems. I've made friends with many people here and even given away stuff. Matter of fact, I'm making a tube direct box for a guy here right now, guess what? I'm not charging him either. But you dont see me telling everyone how great my products are, do you?
When Alan starts conducting himslef with respect around here, I'll leave him alone. Until then, I'll be here. (Your mileage does vary, widely)
