Have you visited the to The Listening Sessions I posted about in the above thread? There's a nice mp3 clip of it there in Session 5. You can hear it for yourself and compare it to a bunch of other LDC mics (including the NT3!Vikki said:Found em.
That SE Z5600 valve one looks nice. Anyone tried these?
"Absolutely" correct.ausrock said:There is absolutely no guarantee that with your guitar in your recording space that you would hear the same results from the mics used in the Listening Sessions...

I guess i was getting a bit greedy and trying to find something that would do it all, but i know it doesn't exist. Steel string fingerstyle is my first love and i was hoping eventually to make a c.d along those lines. I also have some tracks to put acoustic guitar on, along the lines of Alison Krauss and some Crystal Gayle type of material. A mic that would do vocals along them lines would be great too. I know i'm not going to get it all out of one mic so i think its a matter of something that will work well on steel acoustic guitar first. I did ponder on going for a Neumann TL103 or a pair of km184, but i've got to admit i like the sound of the SE Z5600 on the listening room recordings, it seems to have a highish mid peak that gives the acoustic guitar a more defined sound. Am i thinking along the right lines here or have i completely gone off the rails?
