The Rode NT1, Studio Projects C1, and Marshall MXLV67G are all in about the same class IMO... I recommend that you audition both mics before buying either.

I own neither mic. I've heard folks I respect (who don't sell the C1) recommend it highly as a vocal mic. In comparison to almost anything, the Rode NT1A is VERY quiet and sensitive (this is a good thing), but that doesn't say anything about the flavor of it's sound (just that it won't have much discernable hiss). I'll bet you can make fine recordings with either mic, but I'd imagine most folks would say that for most applications, the C1 is preferable.

yeah thanks y'all. I plan on getting the studio projects c1. i also plan on upgrading my home studio from a simple sure rs25 microphone connected to a soundblaster live to a great quality sounding studio. i plan on spending 199 for each equipment i need. what do you guys recommend i get to use along with the studio projects c1? i use adobe auditions 1.5. u think that's enough to produce albums for release?

AA 1.5 is, in my opinion good enuff.....with the C1, you will need a good preamp and soundcard.....how much do you wanna spend between those 2 items?......

i am willing to pay 199 for each item. what do u think is a good preamp and a good soundcard?

You're going to have to be willing to pay more than that. It all depends on what you're looking for but, there's alotta shit thats far more expensive than $199.
But for a start, I would look at the M-Audio delta 44 or 66, and check out the DMP3 aswell.
Good luck.

thanks man. i like the delta 66 though. anyone tried it yet? what u think of it?

Check out the M Audio MobilePre $149.00. It's a good pre and a good sound card. And it's USB for easy hookup. I use this with a studio projects C1 for voiceovers. Great sound.

Hope that helps

Spending $200 on a soundcard and a preamp will NOT equate to "great quality sounding studio"...there's a hell of a lot more to it than that.

Spending some $$$ will certainly improve the quality of your recordings over what you have now, but expecting "produce albums for release" quality from $600 worth of equipment might be a little optimistic...hell, it might be a LOT optimistic.

Sorry, but I had to throw a little realism in here.

Id look into the M-Box......pres, soundcard, and ProTools software......

or the Emu 1820M

or the 1010lt and a DMP3

othe the Delta 66 and a DMP3
