Hey are these Studio Projects B1 mics any good.....cause i just bought some the other day for my home studio....just wanted opinions and ideas on it....

The SPB1 is one of the most popular budget LDC mics. They work on just about everything.

You made a good buy. Let us know what you think.

*once again*

I have one and I love it..it sounds a lot warmer than the rode nt1 I've used before

i have 2 of them and used them for the first time this week, we got some real nice recordings with them on vocals/guitar/drum overheads, there nice mics to have , the C1 is my next studio Project mic i will be getting, i only have limited experience with using them though my friend i recorded yesterday was blowin away by the recording we got

Use the search function above, Rookie, and you'll be reading for a week about the SP B1.

do any of you guys know what would compressor/limiter would go good with the mics....i bought two and im gonna record both at the same time, so looking for two channels...

Try Some Sample Stereo Recordings Without Compressing The Signal Just To See If You Like That Sound

Why is it people want an opinion of a mic AFTER they buy it??

Buyer's remorse have any factor?

watch out for people with red squares by their names praising things like this.. employees like to hype things on message boards like this...

As far as I know, all of Studio Projects' employees have their names and website in big writing on their user names and signature lines here. And let's face it, if one of them wanted to anonymously hype a product, they wouldn't bother to risk it on a thread where the guy has already bought it, would they?

Check the feedback - that many people can't be wrong ...

I just bought a B-1 today at GC used for $49.00!!!! It sounds pretty good on acoustic. Haven't tried it on vocals yet. I figured for 49 bucks, what the hell! :D

id buy every one they have for only $49 each. great mic. I have a B1 and a C1 and they get a lot of use. A second of either one would be nice to try as overheads. I have never used LDC's for overheads

you know how you cant sing at a certain level of sound....wouldn't a compressor help that out??? well, yeah...i need that with the mic...no matter how good the mic is, it still wont keep that same level of sound...what is recommended??

As I tell my students, the Studio Projects B-1 is the finest budget condesor microphone made today. If you're ready to take your songs to the next level, the Studio Projects B-1 is the budget condensor for you. Countless hobbyists and pros alike reach for the Studio Projects brand time and time again. The quality and results speak for themselves. As an independent musician, I highly recommend the Studio Projects B-1.

I've had a pair of SP B1's for over two years now, and I love them. I use them a lot for live stereo recordings, as well as many other sources. My favorite drum "overhead" setup is a B1 and a B3 running through an M-Audio Octane through the M-S matrix, onto two tracks. ;)

You do your OH using MS? That's pretty cool.

It's easy to worry about fanboy-type hysteria over these mics, because people who've had to put up with Radio Shack mics have been blown away by what's available for not-so-big-bucks (and not just from SP, but also SE, ADK and Red5). However, there are some very reliable sources - Paul White (Editor, SOS), Harvey, Dan Richards and so on - who have given very good write-ups of some of the various budget mics on the market. The SP B1 just happens to be one mic that keeps coming out as a good-sounding and highly versatile LDC ... and with recommendations like that, I would question the need for any company to employ anonymous BBS troll marketers.

My +/-2dB, as they say. :)

Nik

I`m using the B1.
Its an exelent workhorse, it can be used on almost anything, especially nice on acc guitar, elec guitar, vox, and oh. :)

I was wondering the same thing!!! All that and he still couldn't get the product name right ... it's "B1", not "B-1"!! We have to have something to discriminate between SP and Behringer when we're all talking in abbreviations!!!

Even in these less paranoid post-DJL days, posts like that one create a danger of starting the rather foolish marketing arguments again ... even though no manufacturer with half a brain would type a post like that.
