I am looking to setup a small home based recording studio. I have a new Yamaha aw4416 and I need some studio monitors for it. I was wondering what everyone would suggest I purchase?? And if you know of anyone selling monitors for cheap or what I should pay for them?

Thanks!

budget

I don't have a working budget, I was hoping to get a few suggestions and then save for what the best value for the money was... but I would say around 2-3hundred.... or should I budget more??

Thanks!

you can get Yorkville YSM-1's for right at $200/pr, but youll need an amp topower them....a regular stereo reciever can do the trick until you can get better......

If you have an aw4416 I'd budget more. Don't waste a cool piece of equipment like that. Good choices seem to be Tannoy Reveal Actives ($700, I think) or Event 20/20bas ($800).
I have the Tannoys, since the Events are very expensive in Sweden ($1200).

For passive monitors, I reccomend the Tannoy Proto J's
@ 180.00 a pair of the Tannoy Reveals @ 350.00 a pair.
For active monitors,audition a some Mackie HR824's @ 650.00
or the Event PS5,6,8 @ 450.00 ,550.00 and 700.00 respectively!

Hey, with good equipment, you'll love what you hear on the Yorkville YSM - 1 Monitors.

They are clear, clean, and cost about 102 pezzutos each. For the money, you can't miss. Later, after you shop around, you might want the $$$ priced monitors.

For me, the YSM's do the job fine.

Have a good holiday.
