i have been researching into home recording since the beginning of this year, and i am finally building up some kind of picture as to what im going to get. the one thing i havn't looked into so much are studio monitors. i currently own a technics SU-V1X amplifier, and a pair of mission 707 speakers. i got these from my grandad when he had no more use for them. there all quite old!

im going to be using a delta 1010lt for multiple inputs. from one of the stereo outputs on the card, can i send this to my technics amp, and then to my speakers? i am planning on buying some new stdio monitors once ive raised some more money up, i was wondering if the set up currently planned is suitable? thanks for any replies.

Although good studio monitors are the most important part of any studio, I think the answer is yes, you can "get by" with the speaker system you described. In fact, the more speaker systems you can set up to compare side by side, the better chance you'll have of getting it right the first time. No matter what monitors you use you'll want to play your mixes in the car, boombox, headphones, PA, whatever you have. Until your mix sounds pretty good on all of these, you still have more work to do.

Sounds right

Yeah that should work fine. Output to your amp, then your speakers.

awesome, thanks guys, youve saved me a few bucks! (for the time being anyway!)
