Hello fellow members,

I am just getting started with the whole home studio process and have a few questions:

1) KRK Rokkit 5 or Yamaha HS5?

2) With either one of these monitors, which audio interface should I go for and can I use the same audio interface for the monitors AND a a mic (considering the TLM 103)???

Thank you!!!!!!

Chris

1 I've no experience with either, but I expect that if you are just starting out, either pair would be a reasonable purchase.

2 An audio interface is basically a soundcard designed specifically for recording. The interface doesn't care what monitors you connect to it, nor what mike you plug into it. Which means, yes. You can, and do, use the same interface for monitors and mike. However, if the mike requires phantom power, you need to make sure that the interface supplies it (which most do these days).

I have only used the KRK 5's myself in the past. Not a great experience but a learning one nonetheless.

Depending upon what it is you are looking to accomplish, either of those monitors may be just fine for you.

How many inputs do you need at once? What are you wishing to record?
