I've nabbed one of the KRK RP-5s from the studio and plugged an iPod right in to listen to while doing dishes before (said setup not near the sink, of course ), but yeah... full tilt at a party probably not gonna happen... plus, they are still in very nice shape, so I wouldn't want drunk people spilling shit on em... hell, the cones on mine are exposed, so there is literally 0 protection, but I think that's the case with most studio monitors.

As for general maintenance? I dust em off with a brush occasionally when I am dusting the mixing console, but aside from that I let them be.

Well I lent my M-Audio Bx5's to my brother for his birthday party do. They were inside a bedroom which overlooked the party area...so noone touched them or anything. Anyway, they were rigged up to a PC with presonus firebox as soundcard....everything maxed to 10 at every stage for 6 hours.

When I reset them up back at my place there just weren't any highs to speak of. The tweeters were cactus. So, the monitors are in getting fixed at them moment. Never again.
