I was looking at cakewalk studio mix at my local music store the other day and the guy there highly recomended it. I am fairly new to digital recording so I am just taking his word for it. he said it was his last one so I don't know if he is just trying to ofload it on me, but it sound like just what I'm looking for and it is priced right. I beleive cakewalk was bought out by peavey and they no longer make studio mix, does anyone know if this is because it's no good? any suggestions apprieciated.

hey man,

i've got a studiomix w/ CWPA9 and i like it fine. As long as you are planning to all your mixing on the pc and don't need an external audio mixer it's great tool. My set up will keep me quite functional until i get the skills and the cash to go nuts on gear. (of course i still drool when new gear hits the shelves)

have fun man

studiomix

buy it. i been working with studiomix over a year now i can edit my songs three times faster then with a mouse, if you are recording by yourself then this would be perfect.make sure you have a good sound card. if you got deadlines to meet studiomix makes it faster.

sound card

What sound card would you recomend for studio mix???

I don't want to convince you not to get one, if you can get it for a great price, great. For as much as they used to cost though, I could live without it. Figure, ..you can always use the spacebar on your keyboard as a Play button, the W key for Rewind and R for record, and have all the key bindings too. And, for mixing, the envelopes are extremely powerful and precise for doing fades, pans etc. as opposed to using faders. They are still kinda cool to have though.
