Studio Furniture Question

yoyo to one and all! I am working on building a couple custom rack spaces for my home/project set-up, and I was wondering if anyone had some advice on a couple things:

1) anyone know a good place to purchase (online or otherwise) the rack rails that house your rack gear? I found one seller on ebay, but they didn't have the right size....so

2) anyone know the best type of board to use? I checked out some shelving-style and plywood options, but didn't know if one was better than the other, and strength issues, etc -- and what to cover the plywood with, if that was the better option...

I was just going to buy some rack units, but I got super inspired by the links on the furniture section of this forum when I saw all the fabulous mixing desks/whole studios that some people were building and I figured 'you gotta start somewhere!'

Datarax has a web site on ebay and they will make rack rails any length you want. Here's the address.
