okay just finished up one ive been working on for a while. please let me know what you think.

KISS classic - "strutter".

This was the very first KISS tune I ever heard. I think it's the first tune on the first album, if I'm not mistaken. Good recording. Has a cool 70's sound and feel to it. Sounds live, too. Good stuff al around.

Great, Greg!

I love Kiss (Rami said Strutter is the first song of first album, I thank was "Kissin ´time",(great guitar solo)

VERY GOOD COVER!

Hey, RAMI, don´t agree you you in a point...

Ace Frehley is a VERY GOOD guitar Player !!!!

Awesome! I love Kiss, especially the first album. Reminds me of puberty. :D

Really nice version Greg. Love the vox and the guitar playing. Now I'm gonna go try to find my Kiss Army badge. ;)

Thanks for sharing!

Chris

Okay,...

The playing and representation of this KISS cover is wonderful,...

but I think the reverb or "echo-space" setting is a bit much,... that it detracts from the overall power of the sound & actually sounds a bit washed out,... which KISS records never were! The "original" recorded sound of this and most other KISS albums was right there, up-front, in your face & kick you in the balls!!!

Despite that little nit-pick, this is an excellent cover with really excellent playing and singing. Keep 'em coming! I never get tired of great Classic Rock covers like this!!

PS: I really don't go for reverb or efx, in general, so consider the source,... but I do have most KISS albums & I did see KISS ALIVE II,... live at the Forum in August, 1977! I was there!

wow. thank you everyone. i really appreciate the compliments. i try to keep all of my covers respectful and true to the original. :)

a reel person: thank you, but i dont really follow what you mean though with 'echo-space'. i thought i kept everything pretty dry except for some slight delay panning on the vocals.

Yo, hey!

My previous reply got zapped from some misplaced keystrokes!! Aaaggghhh!!!

Yeah,... well maybe my ears weren't warmed up yet, but what I thought I heard was a "roominess" to the sound that sapped some of the punch out of the sonics. Maybe that's your actual room, so I dunno. KISS records, especially the early ones,... seemed like they had an immediate "in your face" up-front sound to them. This one,... maybe a little less, but nonetheless it's surely a kickass cover and excellent recording/performance, that should show the light to other people who do covers, such as myself.

I can totally relate and respect your efforts to do covers as closely to the originals as possible. That's something I also strive for, and is a hallmark of the whole "Davemania" sound,... that is "tribute-style" covers!!

I'm your newest, biggest fan, man!!! I mean that!! ;)

haha. thank you for the clarification and the props. ill try to pay closer attention to that stuff in the future. :)

i did all the guitar parts with an SG. just 2 rhythm tracks and a lead track. im shopping for a les paul right now to get a more authentic sound and just because i want one.

wow, that is an exceptional rendition of that tune....not just some schlepped together cover band stab at it....

Good Job! I listened 3 times already lol....

Yes, this tune is the first song of their first album.

Nice job Greg!..I like the solo. The whole mix sounds very roomy and needs to be more dry and in ya face. The vocals could be bought forward a tad but I enjoyed it!

And I am the worlds biggest KISS fan.!!!!!! :D :D

Kiss'n Time was only a single over here I think. I was in snr high school then.
My fav LP is Hotter Than Hell but the 1st was a blast & this was THE blast from that one. thse were the good ol days before Countdown sparked the Australian batallion of the Kiss Army.
Listening with h/phones I'd have to say that the vocals aren't up enough &, dare I say it, the lead is TOO LOUD in some spots.
Ace was ace & this cover/hommage is pretty bloody flash.

Seen this one come up a few days ago and didn't have a chance to check it out till know soooo......Great guitar sound!Bass also mixed really well and true to the original.Vocals do seem a touch verby...but thats compared to the original, and is no big deal as your rendition is kicking...Just heard the 1st guitar solo which you "aced"(sorry...I couldn't resist :p ).
Its great to hear good ol' fashion rock played well..congrats on a fine job!!!

wow, thanks a lot. yeah, its not easy to mimick paul stanley's vocal abilities, so i dont even try. i just do the best i can with what i got. thanks again. :)

Great job on this, Greg. Excellent live feel and you nailed just about every part. It's funny, and I can't help commenting that this was the first song Charlie and I did when we first hooked up. It was also our first adventure in home recording.

It can be heard if here any one cares:

One thing is for sure, your version is much better. This being our first attempt, it really shows it's shortcomings.

Again great job!
