I have a problem with my nuts. The high E string keeps ripping the nib of the nut off (breaking the plastic). The guitar is a BC rich warlock but it's not the original neck. It was bought as is. The solution as far as I could tell was to put a string tree on the head to reduce the angle and stress on the strings and nut (string breakage is frequent as well at the nut). The question I have is as follows; Is there a correct way in placement of the string tree i.e. exactly halfway between the nut and tuner?

Sorry. Half way would be fine. Not real important as long as it helps the problem. You might also try a Bone nut or graphite. Something with bit more strength. You can actually get one made of brass as well.
...thanks for the info guys
