Strangest question you'll read all week, DAW shocking me?

So here's a weird one, I have an Imac with a Digimax D8 going into a digidesign 003 and krk 5's. For the past month or so, Whenever i go to do anything in the back of my equipment (plug in mic, turn off/on, phantom power, ect) I get a little annoying shock. And this happens on ALL the equipment, not just one. WTF IS GOING ON?! I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it but i have it all plugged into a Belkin 7 input power strip that goes into a wall outlet. Anybody experience this? Any ideas would be appreciated.
 
Check the mains earth on the power point and the Belkin 7 input power strip. The other thing it could be a static charge from you to the earth?

Touch the equipment with your tongue 1st and let us know what happens.
 
Time to disconnect EVERYTHING in your studio, test/check ALL your leads, plug back in one at a time and make a note of which one shocks you when you reconnect it.

I have a feeling this is what is happening as well. If you are using central heat, you house is probably dry. You could put in a small humidifier and I think that would fix the problem. Do you get shocked when you touch other metal parts that are not connected to the computer?

Does this also happen when you touch the face plate screws on a light switch or outlet, in the same room? It should. It should discharge the static electricity from your body. Try touching one of these screws before you mess with your equipment, if no more shock, then it is definetly static electricity. If not then you have a faulty ground somewhere. Good luck.
 
I am going to try this out and let you know what happens, i do get shocked touching things as well as metal doors knobs and such. The reason i asked this question is because i bought my pre amps used, so i was making sure nothing was going on there.

My question was not the difference between the two, but what could be causing it from my equipment. Thank you for your helpful answer though.
