well, since microsoft has been a bitch, it won't upgrade from MS Me to XP Pro. So, i had to use my mom's XP Home upgrade and then install XP Pro (I HATE MICROSOFT!). Then, after XP pro had been installed, i deleted XP Home...

now the annoyance

evertime i boot up my com, it gives me a choice between XP Home and XP Pro, even though XP Home does not exist on my machine any more. obviously some XP Home files must be present somewhere, so how can i get rid of these?

It's actually quite a nice feature of NT; multi-booting is often pretty painless. But that's not what you want in this case!

So, Start->Control Panel->System->Startup and Recovery, then in the "System Startup" panel, click the Edit button.

This will bring up boot.ini, which is used by the loader to give you your multiboot options. This is a line item file, so find the line in regards to XP Home and delete it

P.S. you can also just find boot.ini in the root of your C: if you have all the file hiding crap turned off.
