I found a small diaphram battery powered condensor mic in some old stuff today. I wanted to try it out, but there's one problem. Someone (probably a younger me) cut off the tip of the mic. I want to try wiring it up with a new end. Either a 1/4" or the 3 prong one. I know how to solder, but I don't know which wires to connect. The cable has a white wire and a thicker copper stranded wire. They are both inside the main black casing. Can anyone help?
Thanks

Sounds like a single conductor with ground. For a 1/4" plug, the white wire would go to the tip, ground to sleeve.

For an XLR, the white wire goes to pin 2; Pins 1 and 3 go to the braided shield.

Thanks guys. I'll give it a try. And sorry I don't have a photo.
