Didnt know where to put this question. I will try here.

I need a midi version of "La Villa Strangiato" by RUSH. My goal: convert it to notation software ( I have the awesome Sibelius notation software). I do this all the time, works great. I have a string rock group starting ( we all play with Trans-Siberian), and we want to do this tune.

The problem? I have found some good midi versions of "La Villa", but when I import to Sibelius, the timing is all screwed up ( I.E. something in 7/8 will be in 4/4; the notes are fine, but the meters are totally wrong). Basically, whoever did the midi version didnt care about the meters, it is mainly 4/4, when the original version changes meters often. Of course, a sheet music version would be fine too, but the midi would be much better, so I can edit.

Does anybody know where I can get a good midi file of this (and other) tunes? All I need is the Bass Part, the cellist can't improvise, I know the guitar parts. We will hardly be doing it note for note, but I need a guide for the cellist, and don't want to spend days writing it note by note.

One more question: does anyone have some ideas of Rock tunes that would sound hot with strings? I am thinking mainly instrumentals, stuff like "La Villa" that would work with strings. Thanx, amigos.

I'm not sure, but thats one of my favorite RUSH songs, another is Xanadu. I think both would sound really cool with all strings. Even The Trees might.

Here's a maybe too obvious tune. Smashing Pumpkins "Disarmed".

The Kronos string quartet did a well know version of Purple Haze.

Thanx friends. RWhite, I use midifarm too. I dont think I am going to find what I need, I think I am going to have to write it out myself. Drats.

I dont know anything by gentle giant or Smashing Pumpkins, I will check them out.

Along the rocky shoreline,
It leaves a trail of tidal pools,
In a short lived galaxy,
Each micro-cosmic planet, a complete society,
Living in thier pools, they soon forget about the sea..."
