I have this odd sound in my head that I would like to create. I could use some
ideas.
The sound would be a very thick, midrangy, squelchy quasi distorted (but
smooth) mess for vocals. It would pick up every breath! I can almost get it using
a 58 squashed to hell with an old DBX 163 while abusing the proximity effect (mic
eating) but it's not quite it. I would like to turn it on and off like a CB mic to get
the "break in" speak "break out" effect of the thumb button. What about
modifying an old CB mic?! Can you wire a 1\4" jack on it? Would it be high
impedance?
Could one easily replace the volume pot on a green bullet with some sort of
momentary button type deal? I've seen those boxes called "cough drops" that
you plug a mic straight into and step on them to mute...mostly for singers with
head set mics but that's no fun. Too simple!!!
Maybe one of those table top ASTATIC 104s with the base "squeeze handle?"
Stop looking at me like that!
