Here is the second song on my bands demo. We are still in the process of mixing all our songs down, but I would like to get some feedback from you all before we finalize anything. When I was mixing this I was really going for that STP - Sex Type Thing type of sound. I think I am close, but let me know what you think.
I'll post 4 or 5 more songs over the course of this week and get feedback as well if you all don't mind listening. I put (1) on the end because it will be the first song of the lot.

Thanks for listening

Very good! There are a few issues, nuthin major, just my opinions!
Kill the noise in the very beginning of the song !
The gits, while recorded forcefully and excellently, s/b double panned left and right to provide some kinda' stereo semblance.
There is also a upper freq drop-out during the change when the
lead vocs goes into both the 1st and 2nd stanza, similar to some sort of tape-saturation process. Bring the vocs weeee bit mo' upfront and pan the kit's snare and cymbals for more L/R variety
Other than that, a true and smooth production!

Ya' got my props!!!

Very slick. Nice mix, and a catchy tune. I like the vocals, but it might be fun to experiment with some heavier vocal processing -- I think the style is condusive to it. For example, I think the chorus would sound really good with a scratchy "low-fit" vocal with a little distortion or maybe some flange. Just a thought.

I agree, catchy tune, good mix, good tone from all the intruments but I picked up on a couple of drum clams that should be tightened up. One around 50 sec and the other at 1:29 or so. Kind of a late, unsure hits. Other than that I thought it sounded pretty good.

good tune! You have already recieved advice from smarter people, so I'll just say good hard rock tune..

Thanks for the input and thanks for telling me the times and stuff especially. This will really help me squish all the bugs with this song.

Mr Q, I have the guitars panned left and right but not hard left and right. Do you panning hard would give it a better stereo image? The vocal thing you mentioned I cannot hear, maybe I have poor hearing in the highs. Would you mind giving me the times where it changes. It would be most helpful. And yes I did put a little tube saturation on the vocals to give them some edge.

Unfortunately this song is a go between mix between CoolEdit Pro 1.2 and the new 2.0 version. So some things I can get rid of and some things I cannot. Please keep the comments coming, they are very helpful.

thats a pretty good mix even though I still cant hear what the singer was saying

There is an overall high frequency dulling that makes it easy on the ears, but mabe a tad too dull.

Overall, nice balance, nice sound

Forceful boulder of a song. Gets the blood pumping in time.
I'd like a little more seperation/clarity on the vox. It is real close though. The cold stop at 2:00 was compromised by the git on the right side muffing a bit before hammering back in. I'd clean that up if possible. I'm not sure but, I think the solo git could stand some attention as far as placement and space. It sounds like it gets lost in the mix.

Thumping tune and a really admirable recording and mix!! You definately captured all the energy and are well on your was to a stellar demo mix.

Great job!

Theron.

Theron...thanks man!! Yeah...I am still going to clean up the noise at the beggining of the song, and in that stop. I would really like to listen to this mix on some other monitors. It would really help me get a sense of what mine are lacking in. I have a friend with some Event 20/20's so I'll listen on those. I also might borrow some Tannoy Reveals so I can get a real good idea of what is lacking. I use Monitor One MkII's. Hey I got them both for $150 so I figured they would do til I can get something better. Mackie 824's are not in my budget unfortunately.

I'll be posting either another crazy energetic song or a slow but powerful song a couple days.

Heya neighbor- No real criticism to add-The song is good, recording is good and loud- I heard one drum fubar near the beginning of the song -and towards the end it drops to silence for a second it sounded a little wierd. Other than that good job, well done!

On my Klipsch's the bottom end was a little out of control. You might want to look at it on an analyzer and see if there are some spikes.

Cool tune. I think the low end is eating up your headroom. Is there a lot of reverb? It had kind of a distant feel to it. The overall sound was bassy and distant.

I think it will be pretty cool if you polish it up a little.
