I want to demo some songs with just vocal and acoustic guitar. Rather than go through all the hassle of recording on my multi-track and then mixing them down to stereo I thought I'd just patch the outputs of my pre-amp (audiobuddy) into the Rec In RCA jacks on my domestic cassette deck and then set up my pair of ECM8000s in front of me, with the ECMs obviously going into the ab. That's reasonable isn't it? I mean, I won't damage my cassette deck will I?

Is there anyway to monitor the volume on the cassette deck? or on the audiobuddy?

Headphone out socket on the cassette deck. Plus it's connected up to my Hi-Fi amplifier, which also has a Phones socket. Probably be better to use the one on the cassette deck though, right?

I should also add that the Cassette Deck has meters (Two rows of LEDs).

if it has meters, give it a shot. Just moniter that to make sure you are not overloading it.

Don't worry I'll be superextracareful setting the gain structure.

Don't worry you won't hurt your deck. Your little rig should actually result in some fairly decent sound. I might think about lining a compressor in between the AB and the deck... Oh no, you didn't wanted it to get complicated...

I have a compressor, but do I really want to subject my songs to

The Alesis 3630!

Well, it just occurred to me that doing a full blown production for a demo is going over the top. I mean, a demo should be about the songs right? And that's something that can be conveyed much easier if you strip things down to the basics.
