Story of my Life...new mix up

It starts like a Tool song. The piano in the b/ground is good - as it takes the song out of Tool time.
The vocal is too far above the backing for my tastes - though the lyrics easily bare that scrutiny.
The decending guitar lines just before the solo could use a boost.
It's not as loud as I thought - It started out seeming loud but ended up more dynamic than the intro suggested.
 
good song, good arrangement, I like it a lot. It does have some dynamics but the drums sound way too squashed. They need a more airy and open feel for the style of the song.

Saying that I HATE the way soundclick recompresses files it's almost as bad as myspace/youtube
 
Nice song Lee. The beginning shocked me when it came on, very powerful, nice. The rest of the tune sounded too strong on the bottom end and too light on the top. Middle and mid bottoms sounded muddy probably from all the phase shifting going on. I'd like to hear the voice without the processing and some top end on the guitar and keys, and ya it does sound squashed. I figure you are probably trying to get that vocal nich but I just can't say I like it.
 
Very good insights guys. I can look at this more objectively now. I think I'm getting a good concept of what generally works and what I need to fix.

I have been testing out different types of compression, processing and EQ just to see how far I can push the envelope at home on the 002.

I hope to be on here with some updated mixes today and I'd love for you guys to give it another critque. :D
