Store with USED equipment in NY?

hey guys i am short on cash and i was thinking to get something USED ... thinking about few synths...(because near-field monitors i am getting from the store i've heard a lot of bad stories from people getting used ones) and if anybody knows if there is any store in NEW YORK where they sell used stuff? If not then i`ll have to use EBAY and that one i don`t trust too much..I wanna be able to check what i buy ..THANKS!
